What Made Yahoo Number One ?

They specialize, on having it all. It’s either doing well in one part of the whole, or aiming for completeness.

Yahoo managed to set up its hologram and fill it in, in a balanced fashion multi-faceted, simultaneously just like an organic being. All its parts function, all at one time, covering every aspect of Internet presence and marketing. There was no chance left to failure, for all was taken into consideration at any given time.

They first built a foundation upon expertise, later infusing it with proportionately expanding creative mechanisms, mostly adhering to known business aspects and common sense for advancement. Just as a profitable business model needs be.

Can this be replicated?

Surely, just as a human can be nearly replicated through ‘generation’, another project could succeed. However, this project could not take the place of Yahoo, for that space is occupied just fine. A new project aiming at completeness would have to be something with a higher abstract idea, something with a higher aim than just Internet presence and marketing, and most of all, this new project would have to show humanity pioneering ways of ‘overcoming’ their current dilemma and not just better ways of ‘managing’ it, or escaping from it, while using this Internet media in depth.

Can this new project be described? Yes, it will be utilizing high technology to prove that technology is unnecessary, while facilitating access to real power to all of human-kind.

First, let me assure you, that this project is under way. Its details will be accessible to its members only via the usual log-in first, or you don’t exist. Yahoo is my pet peeve. On one hand I respect them for their services and the way they accomplished their all-round business so well. Then, there is the other hand. Since 1997, I have applied to be listed by Yahoo… I truly felt that rejection each time.

It’s now obvious. No regular human is able to accept the term “Entrepreneurial End-time Church”. It just cannot be categorized, labeled, or controlled.

So, the only way I have of justifying and redeeming my purpose is to win the game, permanently.

At this point, I will only reveal 3 additional distinct Differences between the old (yahoo-model) and the new (macro-model).

(1- Pioneering, in order to ‘overcome’.)

2- Single-Mindedly focused on progress downward, as in bringing the ‘macro-cosmos’ upon the ‘micro-cosmos’, superseding what is with the highest abstract idea and uniquely combining authentic prophecy wisdom, entrepreneurial know-how and Internet savvy as symbolisms for the new, never before, to come.

3- Unifying the progressive vs. buying the talented, offering true spiritual power vs. paper or plastic, giving in order to give, not to receive, because of finished mindset.

4- Accomplishing the task by silent power-action from behind the scenes, out-focusing, as opposed to loud media circus, shouting, overriding, out-doing and gambling casino methods that have obviously become less and less effective, (for it is ever harder to get a financial statement from a casino).

This new project is the new strong and silent type. The person of few words that always cut to the chase and never fail. This does not need any allies other than the one supply of power. It has already been promised victory in ancient literature.

What is the prize for those who join in?

To overcome death and live as Kings and Queens on earth, starting soon.

Where Did I Save That Document?

What happened to the paperless office? We generate more paper now than we ever did before the advent of the computer! A computer’s hard drive can get just as cluttered as any other part of the office. With seemingly limitless storage capacity, it’s easy to create piles of files on your computer. This section will help you file your documents more logically and find them more easily.

1. Use directories and subdirectories. The first step in creating your electronic filing system is to create the structure. Let’s say you had a filing cabinet where you stored
your paper files. If every folder were labeled “My Documents,” you wouldn’t find anything. Microsoft automatically sets up a folder titled “My Documents,” where you can save your documents. If you save EVERYTHING under this directory, you will
never be able to find what you need. Just like your paper files, you should save your computer documents into folders, sometimes called directories and subdirectories.

2. Set up your filing system. The most important thing is to point all your saved files into ONE main directory. You won’t believe how incredibly easy it is to do backups: you
simply burn one directory to a CD. I don’t use the “My Documents” directory (although you can, with subfolders). In Windows Explorer, I created a directory called c://a_laura under my c: drive. If you put the letter “a” in front of your name with an underscore, it will always be the FIRST directory in the folder list, making saves faster. Under your main directory, create subfolders with the main categories of documents you save. Don’t worry about the TYPE of document (word processing, spreadsheet, database, etc.), just think about the category. For example, I use the following
subdirectories:

a_laura/business
a_laura/personal
a_laura/school

Then within each subdirectory, I create additional folders.
Under my business directory, I use:

://a_laura/business/articles…Associations, Backups,
Book, Clipart, Contracts, Courses, Keynotes, Marketing,
Media, Newsletters, Policies, Postcards, Products,
Promotional, Templates, Websites

Many of the above then have additional subdirectories. Some folders go eight subfolders deep.

3. Save documents in the correct location. Each time I create a document, regardless of the program it was created in, I save it in the appropriate directory. You will have Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations all in the same
directory, which doesn’t matter because the correct files display when you open a file from the correct software program. Select “File,” “Save As,” and use the “up” arrow until you locate the correct directory. Change your saving preferences in Word under “Tools,” “Options,” “File Locations.” When you save a new document, it will automatically go to the correct directory location.

4. Create naming conventions for your files. Now that you’ve located the correct directory, you have to give it a name that will make it easy to find later. I save contracts in the format YYMMDD CLIENT PROGRAM. I would save a contract under c://a_laura/business/contracts/2003. All the contracts within that directory would be listed in chronological order. When I first started using computers, they were all DOS-based (now I’m feeling my age). I used to have to name files with eight letters. Thank heavens for Windows! Now we have a 255-character capability for file names, so go ahead and make the name as long as you want! The bigger the name, the more likely you will be able to find it again using a keyword search. Ask yourself, “If I want this file again, what words or phrases would I think of first?”

5. Find what you need. If your directory system hits a snag, don’t despair! You can still find that file you created using the “Search” feature of your operating system. If I’m
out of town and John needs to quickly locate a file to send to a client, he can go to the Start Menu, Search, files or folders, select a_laura, and type in any words he thinks
would describe the document, and it’s there! We also have a printout of my file directory, so he can quickly locate files in Windows Explorer as well.

My colleagues and clients are always amazed when we’re on the phone together and they request a piece of information, I can locate it in seconds. It’s easy to create documents and
save them. The big trick is retrieving them again. Using the five steps I described above, you will be able to find the files you want, when you want them, in 30 seconds or less.

Make it a productive day!

What are the Best Roles for Western and Alternative Medicine?

I think it’s very confusing for patients to decide what the best roles are for Western medicine and alternative medicine.

In this article, I’ll try to clear some of that confusion with a few simple principles. I can tell you how I view the difference between the two systems of medicine and you can decide what to do for yourself and your family.

First, a short explanation of alternative medicine. It is often also called complementary medicine, integrative medicine, wellness or holistic health.

Alternative medicine is a catch-all term that includes many healing methods from many countries and cultures. From India it includes yoga, ayurveda, chakra healing, and herbal medicine. From China it includes tai chi, chi gong, acupuncture, acupressure, massage and another set of herbal medicines. From North America it includes homeopathy, naturopathy, massage therapy, reflexology and many other types of therapies.

By Western medicine, I mean the usual type of medicine used here in the U.S. and Canada. Pharmaceutical drugs, antibiotics and surgery are the most commonly prescribed treatments under Western medicine.

The name alternative medicine makes it sound like these therapies should be used instead of Western medicine. But this really isn’t the case. Hardly anyone ignores Western medicine and just focuses on alternative medicine.

My own approach can be summarized in four principles:

  • Use the safest, cheapest, effective remedy first.
  • Use alternative medicine for chronic or lifestyle ailments.
  • Use alternative medicine for prevention.
  • Use Western medicine for acute and life-threatening ailments.

Again, this is my way of looking at alternative and Western medicine. You need to decide on your own approach.

Using the safest, cheapest, effective remedy first is sensible, I think. Use safe, cheap remedies with no side effects first, then progress to stronger, more dangerous, more expensive treatments later.

A good example of this is when my wife’s allergies come on in springtime. She starts by taking an aromatherapy combination that she rubs on her nose and forehead. Most of the time, this works.

But when it doesn’t, she moves on to a homeopathic remedy for allergies. Usually, that will solve whatever problem the aromatherapy couldn’t help.

But if neither one works, she moves on to an off-the-shelf drug for allergies. And that usually fixes whatever symptoms the first two couldn’t work on.

I suppose if she was still suffering after that, she might go to the doctor and get a very strong prescription treatment. That hasn’t happened yet, thankfully.

Why not just take the over-the-counter drug first? Because it has bad side-effects. It makes her sleepy, it dries out her nose making it bleed, and lots of other bad stuff. And it is costly. But that’s worth it if she’s already tried the other safer, cheaper remedies.

In another example, when I have a back problem, I’ll go to a massage therapist, rolfer or Feldenkrais practitioner. They can usually help me. If not, I go to a chiropractor. Chiropractors are great for relieving back pain. If that doesn’t help, then I’ll think about taking off-the-shelf pain medication. If that isn’t strong enough, I go to the doctor to get a prescription drug that can knock the pain out while I have the bodyworkers help me with the actual problem in my back.

My second principle is that I use alternative medicine for the everyday problems and the chronic problems. By chronic, I mean the problems that linger day-after-day, week-after-week. Alternative medicine is well-known for helping people with the chronic ailments like diabetes, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis, etc. Chronic problems can also be less severe like back pain, soreness, obesity, chattering mind, etc. Western medicine seems clueless when it comes to these problems.

Third, I use alternative medicine for wellness and prevention. I go to see a massage therapist even when I don’t have any problems, just to help me stay healthy. I go to see a naturopath as a “checkup” every six months or so to make sure I’m on the right track and to report any seemingly small symptoms that may turn into something worse down the road.

Fourth, I definitely turn to Western medicine for acute or life-threatening problems. If my appendix starts hurt, I’m not going to see a massage therapist or reflexologist. I’m going to trot over to the hospital emergency room. If I’ve been involved in a car accident and my legs got crushed, I want the best surgeons to put me back together.

I follow these principles, not just because they are healthier, less risky and more prevention-oriented, but also because of another consideration.

Cost.

Western medicine, especially when used as a “first resort,” is just too expensive for me. My health insurance policy has a high deductible, because my wife and I are both self-employed and we cannot afford thousands of dollars a month for health insurance. So I want the best possible healthcare for the best price. And that seems to be alternative medicine more often than not.

Internet Marketing: Are You Killing Off Your Customers?

Those of us who spend our spare time on the Internet are exposed to unrelenting sales pitches for everything from clothes to books to health supplements to stock trades. Rather than the information, education, and entertainment we initially sought, we find we have entered an apparently unlimited yellow pages with colored, flashing ads exhorting us to pull out our credit cards and “Click Here.”

Nowhere is this more rampant than in the field of Internet marketing itself. At the bleary-eyed end of a day on the computer, it sometimes seems as if everyone alive is trying to make a living online. If you still have doubts about the extent of the issue, get yourself a throwaway email address on Yahoo! or Hotmail. Then join a couple of safe list mailers. Your bulk folder will soon be stuffed with hundreds of e-mails, all trying to sell something and all guaranteeing that their product will absolutely solve your problems, make you rich, grant you the good life you have always wanted and all without breaking a sweat.

Who are all these people? They are your neighbor down the street, your uncle Jim, your daughter’s fifth grade teacher, the store clerk who sold you a new suit, and the pleasant lady who delivers your mail. They are you and me and everyone we know. They are from all walks of life and all corners of the globe.

The Internet is truly democratic, catering to children playing with their parents’ computer, to the poor reaching out through flickering dial-up or hunched over public computers, to adolescents blogging their inner turmoil, to business moguls amassing greater wealth through their imposing websites, to porn kings spreading their message of filth, and terrorists communicating their deadly plots.

In this mishmash of dreamers and schemers, how do we all fit in? Surrounded by purveyors of everything that exists, we are the buyers and the targets. We are the innocent victims of the unstoppable letters from Nigerian widows and their British barristers. We are the suckers who receive yet another notification of our enormous winnings in some non-existent lottery drawing. Our little in-boxes provide a conduit to the world and stuff - good, helpful, ugly, or sick - comes pouring in.

There must, literally, be a hundred thousand e-books in the vastness of cyberspace, training people how to market products, their own or somebody else’s. A substantial fortune could be blown in only a few days by acquiring books, reports, videos, and software all promising a fast and effortless journey to easy street.

I’m not going to teach you to sell, or market, or promote yourself. As noted above, there are millions of resources on that already out there. So what will this book tell you? It will tell the slick sales reps and the marketing mavens and the irrepressible admen what the rest of us are looking for, what we want, what we like, and what we are going to demand.

Listen up, gurus. We’re mad as hell and we’re not going to take it anymore!

Creating A Prenuptial Agreement

Embarking upon a marriage is a wonderful time in life - emotions are running high and you have great optimism about the future you will build together. The last thing you want to do is jeopardize your love by discussing mundane things like who brings home the bacon, who cooks it and who cleans up after. But what better time to talk about equality in marriage than when the two of you have never felt closer? You both need to commit to equality in marriage from the start. It is particularly important to create a prenuptial agreement (also referred to as premarital agreements and marriage contracts) that reflects equality in financial matters.

Asking each other serious questions about how you see finances in the marriage partnership may save you pain and money later - and might even save your marriage. We agree it’s tough - not to mention unromantic - to discuss splitting assets and assigning debts before you reserve the wedding hall, but don’t be shy about bringing up the subject. What could be more romantic than to spend several hours together looking ahead to the rich and wonderful life you will build together and discussing how you will make your dreams come true?

A prenuptial agreement is a private agreement between two persons contemplating marriage. The couple generally settles, in advance, financial matters in the event of death or divorce.” Lifestyle” or non-financial topics also may be included. The contract overrides and preempts state, family and probate laws that otherwise would apply.

There are three basic rules that should be followed to safeguard your agreement: full and fair disclosure, separate and independent counsel, and ample lead-time before the wedding.

Note that Legal Helper Corp. - http://www.legalhelpmate.com/prenuptial-agreement.aspx - provides an easy-to-use, quick, and economical online method for creating Prenuptial Agreement (Premarital).

The Right Golf Clubs Can Make A Difference

There are so many clubs out there to choose from and deciding which set to get can be a tough decision. Here are some tips on how to narrow down the selection.

Decide on your levels for playing
Some players only play on the weekend or less and there are others who like to play more often. If the occasional game is your pace, a low to mid performance club can work for you, while a high performance club is suited to those who will play more regularly.

Set a budget
The notion that the more expensive the club, the better it is simply doesn’t hold water anymore. If you do enough homework and read reviews you’ll find a club that matches your level of interest. Don’t be afraid to check out used clubs as they can give you the best chances of getting the club you need at a good price.

Now that you know your interest level and have established a budget, here’s a brief run-through of kinds of golf clubs and what each one does.

Woods
A typical golfer’s bag will have a driver (called 1-wood) and a couple of fairway woods (3- and/or 5-wood). A driver is the longest club (usually 45 inches) making it the toughest to control during a swing.

Irons
Irons feature thin club heads with grooves on it. Experienced players opt for a blade style iron while beginners get a cavity-back style. A blade-style has a club head with a full back, whereas a cavity back’s club head is hollow. It is hollowed out to create a perimeter weighting effect helpful for less experienced golfers.

Irons are categorized as long (1, 2, 3,4), mid- (5,6,7) and short (8,9). Short irons are the easiest to hit while the long ones are the hardest. The shorter the iron, the more loft there is and for beginners, the more loft, the better.

Putters
Putters are the clubs most often used in the game and come in club head styles of blade, heel-toe and mallet. Lengths come in belly putters, standard and broomstick (long) putters. Which option to get is a personal choice.

Utility clubs/hybrids
The clubs combine features of woods and irons and are best for beginners who may not want to buy too many clubs at first.

Finally, as a final word before taking them out of the store, most new clubs fit individuals at the average height of 5′10″ for men and 5′5″ for women. If you are significantly shorter or taller than these figures, you should get your club fitted to your height.

Start off with these considerations to build on your research when choosing your golf clubs. The game becomes a lot more fun with the little effort you make now.

Digital Photos and Photo Enlargement - How To Get The Best Results

As I travel around the Web reading various information on the
correct methods for enlarging digital photos, I am amazed at the
variety of advise that is out there. Although the best methods
for digital photo enlargement can greatly depend on the types of
software used in processing the original photo and the printer,
and printer software, there are a few basics that should be
followed no matter what system is used.

The main issue with maintaining original image quality when
enlarging digital photos is to resample or interpolate the
original image only when absolutely necessary. I know that
common knowledge says that you need an input file resolution of
300dpi for quality prints, but this is just not necessarily so.
When you resample a digital photo to artificially boost file
resolution, the image pixels are rebuilt, averaging the image
data between pixels to produce the new image file. The resulting
image file is degraded in the process. The greater the
parameters of the resampling, the greater the degrading of the
image.

If you are using an image editor program like Photoshop to size
your digital photo, first resize the photo to the target print
size with the “resample” box unchecked. Using the original image
resolution from the camera, this may or may not drop the image
dpi below what you may consider sufficient for a good quality
print. Depending on your print setup and system, I would try an
input ppi of as small as 100. Print one and see what you think.
The printer will reprocess the file to the resolution of the
printer in most cases.

The second basic for quality digital photo enlargements is do
not sharpen the image file until after the file has been
enlarged to the target print size. Sharpening the file has the
same effect on the pixels as resampling, and will cause the
image to get an “edgy” or very slightly pixelated look if done
before the photo is at the target size. Always use the “unsharp
mask” method of sharpening and experiment a bit with settings
while watching the actual effect on the photo elements.
Oversharpening will also create an “edgy” image.

Photo enlargement of digital photos can be a somewhat
complicated thing if you are using very advanced softwares and
image processing programs. Of couse utilizing these programs
will yield results that are unmatched by the average digital
imager. You can get very good digital photo enlargements using
your image editing software and desktop or medium format
printer. Just be careful not to “overproduce” the input file.

Make a “Black Cab” Driver Your Guide to London

Drivers of the classic Black Cab spend most of their daily lives trundling through the streets of London. They are a rare breed and the cars they drive are just as full of character and personality as the cabbies who drive them.

Taking the sage advice of a Cabbie is the perfect way to locate any destination. A Cab driver’s suggestions can uncover off-beat routes and help you get the feel for a city. Remember, they are the folks who hear and see everything!

Travelling in a traditional taxi is a unique, convenient and easy method of getting from place to place throughout the convoluted maze of London.

So why are Black Cab Drivers the best travel guides to London? The Reason; Cabbies are famed for possessing a detailed understanding of the city, known simply as “The Knowledge”.

“The Knowledge”

All of the official London cab drivers are required to pass a test called “The Knowledge”. What the Knowledge is, can sometimes hard to define. Taking from between 2-4 years to acquire, some say it comes from having an extraordinary memory. London taxi drivers are said to have a part of the brain governing spatial and visual information that is double the size of an average persons.

The fact is, London taxi drivers have a detailed knowledge of at least 25,000 streets, coupled with a general knowledge of all the major arterial routes running throughout London.

The Knowledge also stems from a constant Interaction with London’s people which means they are extremely connected with what is happening in the life of the city.

If it’s out there, the Cabbie knows!

A Cabbie can find any Street!

The Cabbie’s thorough knowledge of London includes the location of streets, squares, clubs, hospitals, hotels, theatres, government and public buildings, railway stations, police stations, courts, diplomatic buildings, important places of worship, cemeteries, crematoria, parks and open spaces, sports and leisure centres, places of learning, restaurants and historic buildings; in fact everything you need a driver to know in order to get you to your destination by the most direct route possible.

Men and Women of Impeccable Character

It is no coincidence that black cab drivers have a reputation for providing the best taxi service in the world. The credentials of each driver are a spotless reflection of their character and each applicant is the subject of a criminal record check before being issued with a cab driver’s licence.

Beware of Fraudsters and Hustlers

Beware those who claim to have passed the ‘Knowledge of London’ examinations, yet who’s cars are not marked with the official markings.

There are many drivers who illegally solicit business around prominent tourist attractions. They operate without insurance, fare meters and often in vehicles that are not roadworthy.

The difference between an official Black Cab and a private taxi is that private hire journeys must be pre-booked through a licensed operator. Private hire vehicles are not by law able to ply the streets without these operators.

Take a Black Cab Journey through London:

Buckingham Palace
Traditionally, the first place a Black Cab driver will take you to see is Buckingham Palace for the changing of the guards. The Cabbie always knows the best times to visit and all the cunning ways of avoiding London’s tedious traffic.

London’s Theatreland

Go to see a musical, play or comedy in London’s Theatreland by Black Cab. Again, you’ll avoid the traffic, enjoy the company of a driver who knows all about the theatre and you will arrive at the venue in the unique style only the Black Cab can afford.

Museums

Looking at a map of London you will notice that several museums and places of interest are to be found scattered around the London area.

Westminster Abbey, The Royal Academy of the Arts and Big Ben are separated by a large expanse of city, which would be difficult to navigate if it where not for “The Knowledge” of the London cab driver.

How to arrange a cab:

If the orange “for hire” light is lit up the cab can be hailed from the street.
Black Cabs can be located on designated ranks, situated at prominent places, including many mainline rail, underground and bus stations.
Most taxis carry five people plus luggage
Tipping at about 10% is expected.

Remember, when requesting a cab from your hotel; insist on a licensed London cab with a fare meter. Hotel staff at a few of London’s hotels will attempt to persuade you to use a “car service” that they recommend. The staff often receives bribes from unlicensed minicab drivers.

Cab Driver’s Tip

Travel safe - It is a very good idea to arrange a password with the dispatcher, which the driver should provide you with when heshe arrives. In addition to this, the driver should already know your name and destination. London’s Public Carriage Office recommends: “Always sit in the rear of the cab, and always carry a mobile phone”.

History of the Adirondack Chair

Thomas Lee designed the first Adirondack Chair in 1903. He was on vacation in Westport, NY and he needed outdoor chairs for his summer home. He tested the first designs on his family.

The original Adirondack Chair was made with eleven pieces of wood, cut from a single board. It had a straight back and seat, which were set at a slant to sit better on the steep mountain inclines of the area. It also featured wide armrests which became a hallmark of the Adirondack Chair.

The Adirondack Chair might have stayed in Lee’s back yard, except for his friend Harry Bunnell. Bunnell had a small carpentry shop and needed a source of winter income. He used Lee’s idea and started to create the chairs.

In 1905, Bunnell received a patent for the “Westport Chair”. For the next twenty years, Bunnell produced these chairs. All of his “Westports” were signed, made out of Hemlock and painted green or dark brown.

The Adirondack Chair has changed over the years, while maintaining the same style and comfort. Today’s Adirondack Chairs usually feature a rounded back and contoured seat. The style has also been translated to other pieces of furniture, anything from Gliders to Love Seats. Modern Adirondack chairs can also be made of many materials from cedar to recycled plastic.
