Lloydspharmacy Launches Online Health Calculator

In a bid to increase the focus on health and related issues among people, pharmacy chain, Lloydspharmacy has come out with a unique web tool which will help employees gauge how many of their colleagues are likely to be afflicted with ailments and health issues like alcoholism, sexually transmitted diseases, depression etc.

The web tool will use its database to determine the health risks faced by employees when certain parameters are given. The Chances Are… calculator is expected to create awareness of ailments and diseases which can affect employees so that they become more sensitized to the risks around them. This way they can take proactive measures to protect themselves.

According to Lloydspharmacy, the tool will encourage dialogue and bring focus to health issues faced by many across the UK by making it simple to relate to. Data collected nationwide will be used to analyse and evaluate risks when parameters like type of workplace, gender split and age of employee group is entered.

Speaking about their product, Andy Murdock, Governance and Pharmacy Relations Director of Lloydspharmacy, said that the tool is being launched as people have grown used to seeing information and statistics about diseases and ailments and are no longer sufficiently encouraged to take preventive action by these figures. With the tool, employees can see actual risks that will be faced by their own colleagues and this will prompt action from their end.

In addition to providing statistics or risk evaluations, the tool will also tell the user how he/ she can avoid the risk by bringing about certain changes in the lifestyle. The company hopes that the tool will be used in workplaces across the country to encourage employees to take a more active interest in their own health.
