As bread is part of the staple diet of most people, adding Folic Acid, will mean everybody will be taking Folic Acid, whether they wish to or not.

The people, who it is actually aimed at, are pregnant women. So by adding Folic Acid to bread, it could reduce the number of babies being born with Spina Bifida.

What Is Spina Bifida?

Spina Bifida is a serious condition where the baby is born with part of the spine not completely developed, so leaving the nerves in the back unprotected and exposed.

This defect can happen during the first month of pregnancy.

As the spinal cord is part of the brain … ie the nerves connected to the spinal cord are unable to send messages to the brain. This means that the baby may not be able to walk; and even the ability to learn may be affected.

It is possible to operate on the newborn baby to close the gap, but as the nerve damage has already happened, the damage is permanent and unfortunately an operation on the nerves is of no use.

Other complications due to the baby having Spina Bifida are that the baby may have problems with their bowels and bladder.

A close relation to Spina Bifida is Hydrocephalus (an accumulation of spinal fluid on the brain).

Is There Any Treatment For The Baby With Spina Bifida?

Apart from the operation soon after birth to close the gap, the best that can be done to help the baby to live as normal a life as possible is treating each problem with medication and physiotherapy.

Many individuals with Spina Bifida will need help of some kind for the rest of their lives. This may involve the use of devices, such as braces and wheelchairs.

It has been estimated that the cost to industry will be around £700 000 a year.

Is There A Downside To Giving Everyone Folic Acid?

As people are being mass medicated this can cause concern for many. Also medically, taking Folic Acid can mean that older people with a Vitamin B12 deficiency resulting in Pernicious Anaemia may not be noticed immediately and so their treatment will be delayed.

What Can A Woman Of Child Bearing Years Do?

As many pregnancies are unplanned and it is being proved that a deficiency of Folic Acid may result in a baby being born with Spina Bifida; including Folic Acid in the food they eat should be a must have. It is highly recommended that all women of childbearing years should take Folic Acid in a Nutritional Supplement and eat plenty of green vegetables, as they are rich in Folic Acid.

By adding Folic Acid to bread it will hopefully result in less babies being born with Spina Bifida. And this can only be a good thing can’t it?

There is a saying,”There is no love like a mother’s love.”

The only love on the earth which does not shift its position is mother’s love. Every mother knows when her presence is required, when to stay behind the screen and when to extend her loving hand and comforting shoulders.

The mother is born the moment the child is born, every time she is a new mother and this role adds a new dimension to her life as a woman. A mother can share her love among her entire family and make everyone feel special. There is no substitute for the unwavering support, depth, and strength of a mother’s love. At times, love may be unsure, but a mother’s love is not.

Like mother like daughter is quoted often. The tendency of young daughters to mirror the attitudes and reactions of their mothers is well documented and every mother knows this from experience. Mothers realize that their responsibility of bringing up their daughter is a daily activity and they perform their role with ease and love.

Mother’s Day is celebrated in most countries. Abraham Lincoln said - “All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.” That is a worthy compliment to give mom this Mother’s Day!

In the United States , Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in May. In the United Kingdom it is “Mothering Sunday” on the fourth Sunday. Days may vary, but the global feeling on mother is the same.

The method know as three dimensional ultrasound scanning is used during early pregnancy, it can provide 3d pictures of the fetus. Most times these pictures are quickly collected and combined and animated to created a “4d ultrasound scan”.

Three dimensional scanning works in the same way to the usual scanning methods except that the ultrasound scanning pulses are sent from many directions. The waves can be redirected back then captured to provide info to construct a 3 d picture in very much the same way as 3d pictures. 3 dimesional ultrasound was devised by olaf ramm abs stephen smith.

It is important to understand that sonologists worldwide have always pictured 3d pictures of the body in their minds while doing their 2d scans. However, until recently it was difficult to do this kind of reconstruction on on information using ultrasound. The advent of 4d scans for the first time allowed us a peek into the brain of a sonologist and hence letting us see the images on the ultrasound machine.

The 3d/4d ultrasound image should utilize ultrasound energy following the same limits as conventional 2d ultrasound to create the 3d images. There is no data to suggest any harm due to 3d ultrasound, its use in none medical situations needs to be undertaken with an understanding of the risks that may exist.

This is a very simple statement, yet not so easy to doKeep your promises. I try to conduct my life in this manner. If you tell someone that you will do something for them, you can’t turn around at the last minute and say, I didn’t do it because it wasn’t convenient. Keeping your promises is also a way to live your life with integrity. That’s why it’s important to be aware of your choice of words, and to live consciously. There were many time that I was not able to keep my promise for example of repaying some money to a friend or colleague, somewhere in the back of my mind I had always intended to repay the debt even if it was years in the future. But that is not a very good way of living. If you consistently live like this you will lose respect and friends. I know I have lost friends because I was not true to my word. It is heartbreaking for both sides.

Especially with children you need to keep your promises. I get so disturbed when I hear parents trying to sooth a child’s temper and the parent says ” I promise” Later when the child remind the parent or guardian, it becomes clear that the parent had no real thought to keep the promise. The words were just said to placate the child. The parent, as I remember, thought that his or her child would just forget all about what was promised. But children have a great memory. Especially when they hear the words I PROMISE. Those words sound stronger than any other words in the English language to a child. We have been taught that those words have power and magic.

However I will tell you and other survivors of incest or sexual molestation will also tell you that those words were used by an adult to manipulate and control us as young victims. “YOU MUST PROMISENEVER TO TELL” “YOU MUST PROMISETHIS WILL BE OUR LITTLE SECRET.” If I had never heard those words I probably would have been able to expose my own abuse earlier. Every little child who suffered abuse over and over again, with that constraint of PROMISE, can relate to the power of those words. I try never to say PROMISE to any child or adolescent unless I have 100 percent certainty that I can keep it. Children are just too gentle and vulnerable to me, and I remember when someone older did not keep that promise to me. I remember the devastation, the hurt, grief and frustration I felt in that moment. I also remember being manipulated by those words.

In your business and life then, make every intention of keeping your promises. Teach you children that if they ever find themselves in a vulnerable position, or someone wants them to promise, something which feels repressive, restrictive, or manipulative, they don’t have to keep any promise that is coerced or forced. It’s probable not true what they are being asked to do, or say anyway. Yet abusers will extract control over you or your children if you or your children are manipulated into that promise. Teach your child that it doesn’t matter if someone says they can hurt you or them and they can’t force you to do something bad. Tell the child that you’re stronger than what another might say and that you will keep them safe. Tell them whatever they need or want to tell you, that you will listen to them with an open mind. And finally keep your promises!!
